Care Assistant

The Elms require a Care Assistant who will be responsible to The Care Manager or Deputy Care Manager or any Senior Care Assistant in charge.

The Role

  • Understand and comply with all The Elm’s policies and procedures at all times
  • Monitor the condition of the residents and report promptly to seniors anything that could be of concern regarding any aspect of home life
  • Keep written records as required and contribute to care plans
  • Become familiar with the individual histories and care plans of the residents
  • Respect the wishes and needs of the residents and be flexible in accommodating their individual preferences
  • Answer any calls for help promptly
  • Promote and encourage physical activity by helping residents move around and maintain their mobility and also to prevent pressure areas
  • Ensure residents eat and drink during mealtimes, give assistance if required and monitor intake encouraging good nutrition

General Requirements

  • NVQ2 or higher qualification
  • Must be physically fit and able to bend, move easily
  • Experience with working in a similar environment
  • Experience of carrying out domestic work whilst residents/people are in the area
  • An understanding and a common sense approach to health & safety at work legislation regarding domestic work
  • Team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Honest and reliable
  • Flexibility to work shifts
