South East London Baptist Homes opened The Elms in 1953 as a secure, comfortable and caring home for elderly Christian people. Nowadays the residents come from many Christian denominations.

Registered as a Residential Care Home, The Elms has maintained an enviable reputation. Repeatedly praised by inspectors for its professional standards and devoted staff, it is known for its truly caring, homely atmosphere. The comfort and well-being of the residents is always paramount.

The Elms is a charitable Christian endeavour that has a very good reputation locally as a friendly and caring home for elderly people. We have a volunteer Board and encourage input from our residents, their friends and families, volunteers and members of local churches.

We aim to provide fellowship, peaceful contentment, dignity, enjoyment, security and spiritual sustenance to our residents, and to take full care of their health needs. You will be fully involved in planning your care, and in any medical decisions which need to be made. We have good working relationships with local health services and support our residents if they need hospital or other treatment. As we do not like to see any of our residents having to move on to a nursing home when they become more ill and frail, we make all possible efforts, assisted by other professionals such as District Nurses and Hospice Nurses as appropriate, to give residents the care they need right up to the end of their days.
